As part of our year 7 program, we discuss the tradition of European Art in creating the illusion of depth. In providing students with an understanding of how artists achieve the illusion of 3-dimensional space on a 2-dimensional surface we explore the use of perspective. Students can find the concept of perspective challenging to understand and apply successfully to their artmaking.
By using a range of software programs such as Paint, Artrage and Photoshop Elements, I have found students have been more creative in their exploration of the topic, have been able to demonstrate a better understanding of the drawing device and have been able to produce artworks which are more aesthetically pleasing.
Students who are more creative and innovative in their use of technology are rewarded through the assessment criteria. Students are also encouraged to reflect on the ICT skills they have learnt by the framing of one on of the reflective questions.
